Activities in the Last 6 Months
We now have 34 Active antenatal care groups, along with mobile clinics, a range of training courses, and much more
New group formation: we now have 34 active groups participating in the programme to improve antenatal care for women in their areas. The groups are facilitated once a month by one of our staff.
New staff member employed: Green Tara Trust welcomes Ishwori Nepal to the team as a new Health Promotor.
Mass education event: Teej Festival. (? Date) Community groups organised a one day festival to educate older women in how to take care of a pregnant daughter in law. This involved music, singing, dancing, and talks. It was very well attended by over 3,000 local people.
Mobile antenatal camps: Manita Sharma, Health Promotor and auxillary nurse-midwife, has started mobile antenatal clinics in areas far from health posts. Green Tara Trust have provided basic equipment for the clinics, which is looked after by community volunteers.
Training courses: GTT has provided training to female community health volunteers, government health post staff, traditional healers and community group volunteers in the danger signs of pregnancy and how to refer to a trained practitioner should this happen.
Communication Skills training: Dr Stephens and Dr von Tejlingen facilitated a training course for Professors of Medicine at the Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.
